Cat Interest Info

Type of Working Cat You're Looking For
Have you ever had a barn/working cat before?

Environment

Type of property where cat will live
Do you plan on letting your cat(s) roam free 24/7/365?
What kind of long-term shelter will your cat(s) have?
While barn cats can be very independent, they do require 24/7 access to a shelter from the rain and snow/cold.
Working cats require an acclimation period of ~4 weeks. They must be confined to their shelter area/safe area during this time so that they understand it's home and where their meals are provided. Failure to acclimate a working cat to a new space will result in them running away as soon as released.

Consider the weather/temperatures during this time. While a garage may be suitable for sheltering from bad weather, cats will overheat if confined during the summer months. If your acclimation space is at risk of being too hot/cold during this time, you should postpone adoption until the weather is more suitable.

Monitoring & Care

How often are your working cats fed?
Which of the following are you able and willing to provide?
Understanding the level of care you are able to provide will help us match you with the right cat(s).
Annual vaccinations
Regular flea/tick preventative
Provide fresh water daily
Provide at least one meal a day
Seek vet care for illness or injury
We may contact your current vet to verify your pets have been provided quality care and are up to date on required vaccines.
If you are unable to continue to care for this cat, do you agree to reach out to your adoption contact to either return the cat or discuss rehoming options?
